Escaping reality

"Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home." -anna quindlen

They claimed that "reading can make us a better conversationalist". When we talk about books, we usually refer to them as a source of knowledge. Don't get me wrong, books do contain a wealth of information, but for those of us who would rather learn and get knowledge from other ways than reading, all of that is tedious. Why would anyone put themselves through the agony of reading 300-500 pages when they can acquire the same information visually or audibly? Why read a narrative for days when I can watch it in two hours? You dig.

Let's put that aside for a moment; why would somebody want to live in someone else's mind when they can live independently? Why not create your own universe while reading Sarah J. Mass and embark on a journey with J.K Rowling? You can control a kingdom, be the chosen one, command an army, live in a world you never knew existed, fulfill your dreams, be the brave detective you've always wanted to be, travel to any place you desire, and live.

Words can alleviate depression. Even doctors recommend reading to relieve stress. Reading the pages of life through the eyes of a great writer will make you wish you were outside living. When you're immersed in the words of Alex Abraham's love stories, you'll want to go out and love. When you love, you want to read more of it. You will forget about your problems and your reality. You'll be a bird flying through woods that have been converted into papers.

The world will stop being your cage in every book you fly to, and you will learn to fly higher, go anywhere you want, and taste freedom. Reading will cause you to feel every emotion. Love, hatred, vengeance, forgiveness, pain, and sadness. You can make the clouds cry for you, the sun shine in you, and the fire burn for you. Forget about the day-to-day cliche quotes about books, such as "reading makes you a whole person" or "being free through them," or even the quote I mentioned in the beginning. Fall in love, be a warrior, meet new people, and leave a legacy. Everything you desire, no matter how small or large, is within your grasp . In between pages, you can escape reality.

"I do not read for I have renounced life,I read because one life is just not enough for me."
